Why am I being billed by more than one carrier?

While it is possible to receive more than one invoice for long distance calls, you should never be billed for the same calls twice. You may, however, receive more than one bill for the following reasons:
You may not have switched all of your telephone numbers to Talk America. Add your additional lines now by simply contacting the customer service at http://cognigen.net/talkamerica/cs.cgi?sign_up.
The calls may have been made prior to your local telephone company changing your service to Talk America.
Another carrier may have switched your long distance carrier selection without your authorization.
Collect or third party calls will be billed from the carrier the caller used to reach you.

What features are included with the service?

The United Regional Plus Plan may include your selection of 900 Call Blocking, Customized Call Restriction, Anonymous Call Reject, Auto Redial, Automatic Callback, Call Forwarding, Call Block, Call Block Denial, Call Hold, Call Return, Call Trace, Call Trace Denial, Call Waiting, Caller ID, Calling Name Display, Custom Toll Restriction, Distinctive Ring, Priority Call, Priority Ringing, Privacy Manager, Remote Call Forwarding, Repeat Dialing, Return Call Block, RingMaster, Speed Calling / Speed Dialing, and Three Way Calling.

What are the PICC and USF fees?

PIC-C fees are applied to business accounts only. The first (main) line is exempt and each additional line is charged $4.31/line per month. The Universal Service Fund fee is 8.7% of interstate and international usage.

What are the billing increments, and is there a minimum usage required?

The billing increments are 6 seconds with 60 seconds minimum. If you use long distance only, $5 minimum monthly usage is required.

Is toll free service available?

Yes. After your account has been activated, you can obtain the toll free number by contacting customer service at http://cognigen.net/talkamerica/cs.cgi?sign_up.

Is the Members' Area secure?

Yes, the Talk America Members' Area is secured using SSL technology. You will not see the little lock on the bottom of the browser because the Talk America website is run inside of frames. To validate that your connection is secure inside of frames, simply right click with your mouse inside of the frame and select 'Properties'.

Is there an additional charge for voicemail?

Voicemail will be an additional $5.95 per month on residential accounts and $4.95 on business accounts.

How long does it take to remove the feature?

Typically, most changes can be completed within 3-5 business days - but sometimes can take longer to complete.

If I sign up for long distance only, am I eligible for free member-to-member long distance?

The free member-to-member calling service is only available between two customers who are both on the bundle plans. The bundle plans include: 1000 plan, united unlimited, united unlimited plus, and united nationwide plan.

How do I obtain my account number?

You will automatically obtain your account number after you have successfully provisioned with Talk America. Your account number will be E-Mailed to the address you specified at enrollment.

How do I pay my bill online?

To pay your bill online, simply login to the Talk America Members' Area and select the option to add your credit card for payment.

How do I add or remove a feature?

Can I receive the invoice by mail?

Yes, with the additional $1.95 fee for the paper invoice.

The Talk America business plans can support up to 12 lines per account.

Does Talk America offer start up service?

No. To be eligible for service you must first have an active telephone line through a Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC).
